Ambassaden advarer amerikanere
MESSAGE TO AMERICAN CITIZENS
Feb. 11 Oslo Demonstration
A demonstration organized by Muslim community groups is planned for Saturday, Feb. 11, starting at 2:30 p.m. in the Gronland neighborhood of downtown Oslo, proceeding to the Parliament building in downtown Oslo.
Nearby locations, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Embassy, could be affected.
The organizers have stated that the demonstration is in connection with the recent controversy concerning the cartoons of Prophet Mohamed reprinted in a Norwegian magazine.
There is no set time for the demonstration's conclusion. Police will be taking appropriate security measures. Right-wing groups have indicated that they may organize counter-demonstrations simultaneously.
As always, we remind American citizens that even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly escalate into violence.
American citizens are therefore urged to avoid the areas of demonstrations if possible, and to exercise caution if within the vicinity of any demonstrations.
